Strange!!!!!!!!!Man stabs cousin to death after waking from nightmare.

The Ebonyi State Police Command says it has commenced
investigation into the alleged killing of 15-year-old
Chukwudalu Omege by his cousin, Uchechukwu Nwankwo.
It was gathered that Nwankwo, 25, who had dreamt that the
deceased was among those plotting to kill him, took a knife
soon after the nightmare and stabbed his victim.
The incident, DailyPost had gathered, created serious
confusion among the entire residents of No. 7 Ibe Street,
Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
The Ebonyi Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sylvester
Igbo who confirmed the killing said the police got to know
about the unfortunate incident when the murder case was
reported at the Ekumenyi Police station by a member of the
deceased family (name withheld).
“A report was made at the Ekumenyi Police Station that one
Uchechukwu Nwankwo aged 25, stabbed his cousin, one
Chukwudalu Omege aged 15 and the victim was rushed to
the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki,(FETHA).
Unfortunately, while the victim was receiving treatment at
the FETHA, he died at the early hours of Saturday.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime.
According to him, he was in a dream when he saw three
men, and in that dream it was revealed to him that the
three men were hatching plans to eliminate him. When he
woke up, he prayed against it and went back to sleep.
“Again, he had another dream
where two other people were
revealed to him, were planning to kill him also”, he said.
Continuing, the PPRO said “When he looked closely in a bid
to identify the people planning to kill him, he identified his
cousin, (the deceased) and immediately he woke up, he
picked up a machete and went after the cousin. While the
cousin was trying to raise the alarm and running for his
dear life, he went after him and inflicted several machete
cuts on him, leading to his death”.
He further disclosed that the Ekumenyi Division was still
investigating the matter, adding that at the end of the
investigation, the command would charge those indicted to court.

Unbelievable!!!!! Man, 93, carried into court for allegedly raping 4 sisters

A 93-year-old Australian, Karl Joseph Kraus, accused of
raping four sisters while living in South-East Asia, appeared
in court, in Thailand, on Monday.
According to charges against him, Kraus, who now finds it
difficult to walk on his own, was alleged to have attacked the
girls, aged between seven and 15, in 2010.
He was carried from a prison bus into a wheelchair by other
inmates, in order to be wheeled into the dock in Chiang Mai
province, in the north of the country.
According to Mail Online, after being arrested and bailed on
suspicion of rape, Kraus attempted to flee to Burma, from
where he was deported for not having a valid visa.
Report said his lawyers were now trying to get the rape case
dropped, arguing that he was too ill to stand trial.
Last month, he told the Sydney Morning Telegraph, “I’ll be
dead before proceedings conclude,” adding that “I’ve done
nothing wrong.”
Kraus, a German-born Australian citizen, is suffering from an
array of serious illnesses such as dementia and cancer,
according to his lawyers.
However, while free on bail he was apparently seen driving
around Chiang Mai and did not seem to be in poor health.
The former railway worker had been living in Thailand for
more than a decade when he first met the girls he was alleged
to have abused in 2008.
Thai police claimed that Kraus offered to teach the children
English, and persuaded them to visit his house by offering
them chocolate and money.
But the girls then told their parents, who, in turn, reported
Kraus to the police.
Officials allegedly found more than 100 child pornography
images on his computer, many of which had been emailed to
addresses based outside Thailand.
However, Kraus later claimed that he was told the case would
be dropped if he agreed to bribe police with a sum equivalent
to £10,000.

Man jailed 45 years for stealing Governor's phone

For stealing a N50,000 Sony Ericsson phone belonging to
Governor Rauf Aregbesola, a 31-year-old Kelvin Ighodalo has
been sentenced to 45-year imprisonment by an Osogbo High
Court.
Ighodalo stole the phone from the pocket of Aregbesola on
November 27, 2010, when the governor was being
inaugurated at Government Technical College, Osogbo.
Justice Oyejide Falola, who heard the case, found Ighodalo
guilty on six counts, which included conspiracy, stealing and
fraud.
He was sentenced to 10-year imprisonment for the first three
counts and five years for each of the last three which
included impersonation, obtaining property by falsehood and
collusion.
Falola, who ruled that Ighodalo deserved the jail term, held
that the convict used the phone to obtain N500, 000 from the
Owa of Ilesa, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran, while he obtained
N200, 000 from Mr Shengen Rahman, an associate of the
governor.
The jail term, which Falola pronounced will run
concurrently, means that Ighodalo will spend the next 10
years behind bars.
Assistant principal state counsel, Mr Biodun Badiora, told the
court that the convict had served six-year imprisonment in
Ikoyi prison custody in connection with a murder case in
2005.
Counsel to Ighodalo, Mr. Ameachi Ngwu, prayed the court to
commit him to community service, stressing that the convict
should not be incarcerated but rather be placed where people
could see him as a convict.

ASUP STRIKE

BREAKING NEWS

THE Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, has commenced an indefinite strike, following failure of the federal and state governments to implement agreements
on issues affecting polytechnic education in the country. The indefinite strike declared, Sunday, by the union,
followed end of a seven-day warning strike which ended weekend.
Some of the issues in contention are non-migration of
members at the lower cadres on CONTISS 15 salary scale; release of white paper on the visitation panel to federal polytechnics; non-commencement of needs assessment of
Nigerian polytechnics; worrisome state of state-owned polytechnics/monotechnics; and continued appointment of unqualified persons as rectors by some state governments. Others include failure of most state governments to implement approved salary packages (CONPCASS) for polytechnics and 65 years retirement age; continued
recognition of the NBTE as a regulatory body for Nigerian polytechnics against the creation of a national polytechnics commission; and the snail speed associated with the
amendment of the Federal Polytechnics Act, amongst others.
National President of ASUP, Mr Chibuzor Asomugha, told
www.ourogaontop.blogspot.com that the indefinite strike had become
inevitable because the meeting the union had with Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, on the issues yielded no positive results.
He said the strike would be called off only when governments addressed all issues raised by the union, and urged all polytechnics across the country to abide by the directive to embark on strike. More on www.ourogaontop.blogspot.com

Prisoners Receive Catholic Sacrement.

Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most
Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor on Thursday
administered confirmation sacrament to 50
inmates in the Awka Prison during a pastoral
visit.
The Bishop was accompanied by the Anambra
state governor, Mr. Peter Obi and his wife.
While addressing the gathering at the prison,
the bishop called on the federal government to
accelerate the Nigerian prisons system reforms
maintaining that the present state of
inadequate facilities in Nigerian prisons was
unacceptable.
He lamented that 90 percent of the inmates
were still awaiting trial, he stressed the need
for speedy dispensation of justice while
protecting the fundamental human rights.
The bishop explained the reason for the
visitation stating that it was to give the inmates
a sense of belonging and encourage them
towards reformation and proper integration
into the society when they regain freedom.
He expressed his regret over the attitudes of
some politicians towards the plight of Nigerian
youths who form the bulk of inmates in prisons.
The state governor towed the line of the bishop
in condemning the activities of some politicians
in exploiting the condition of unemployed
youths to expose them to crime and urged
parents to see that their wards are productive
and not thugs.
Mr. Obi enjoined the Awka prison management
to engage the inmates in agricultural activities
so as to be productive while assuring of his full
support in the course.
The Senator representing Anambra South
Senatorial Zone, Senator Andy Uba,
represented by the director of his charity
foundation made donations of materials to the
inmates and decried the level of decay inside
the prison.
The Catholic Diocese also added a bus donation
to the prison authority to help ease
transportation difficulty in conveying the
inmates to court.

Few hours ago.NJC Suspends Justice Talba for One Year

Justice Abubakar Talba of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High
Court has been suspended for 12 months without pay by the
National Judicial Council (NJC) headed by Chief Justice of the
Federation Justice Aloma Mukhtar.
A statement signed by NJC's Acting Director of Information, Mr.
Soji Oye said Talba's suspension was sequel to findings by the
council that the judge did not exercise discretion judicially and
judiciously when he sentenced an Assistant Director, Police
Pension Board John Yusuf.
Yusuf, who faced three criminal charges over his role in the N24
billion pension fund scam, was sentenced by Talba to two years
imprisonment with an option of N250, 000 (total of N750, 000)
on each of the three charges.
Talba said the convict needed a reprieve for assisting the court
by confessing to getting N3 billion as his share from the N32.8
billion leading to the summary trial.
The sentence, however, attracted a backlash from Nigerian
citizens and anti-corruption activists across the globe.
The NJC also "seriously warned" Justice Okechukwu Okeke after
considering his response to the series of petitions alleging
judicial misconduct against him.
"The NJC held emergency meeting on February 20, and set up a
Fact Finding Committee to investigate the allegations levelled
against Talba in the police pension case of FRN vs Esai Dangabar
and five others.
"The council, however, observed that the charges brought by
EFCC against Yusuf in the first charge sheet containing counts
one to 10 under Section 315 of the Penal Code with jail term of
14 years and fine were dropped.
"The EFCC counsel substituted it with another charge sheet with
only three counts under Section 309 of the Penal Code that
moulds a lesser punishment of two years imprisonment with or
without option of fine.
"The National Judicial Council, in the exercise of its disciplinary
powers under the 1999 Constitution also issued serious warning
to Talba to desist from unreasonable exercise of judicial
discretion in all matters brought before him,"

North Korea to put US CItizen on trial.

North Korea will put a US citizen on trial for " committing crimes "
against the country and aiming to topple the regime, the North ' s
official news agency has said.
On Saturday, amid soaring tensions between Pyongyang and the
West, the KCNA said US citizen Pae Jun- Ho had admitted to the
charges and would soon face " judgment " .
He has been in prison in the North since November.
" In the process of investigation he admitted that he committed
crimes aimed to topple the Democratic People ' s Republic of Korea
with hostility toward it ," the report said. " His crimes were proved
by evidence" .
Pae was arrested in November as he entered the northeastern port
city of Rason, which lies inside a special economic zone near North
Korea' s border with Russia and China.
" He will soon be taken to the Supreme Court of the DPRK to face
judgment, " according to the report, which did not say what the
charges were based on.
South Korean media in December identified the detainee as a 44 -
year- old Korean- American tour operator.
He was travelling with five other tourists and was detained when a
computer hard disk was found among the group ' s belongings ,
according to the South Korean newspaper Kookmin Ilbo .
Former UN ambassador Bill Richardson delivered a letter regarding
Bae to officials during a trip to North Korea in
January, although he was unable to meet Bae.
Americans held
The announcement follows a months -long standoff on the Korean
peninsula stoked by the North ' s nuclear test in February, which
prompted the UN Security Council to impose fresh sanctions on
the isolated nation .
The move also came hours before US Deputy Secretary of State
William Burns was due to meet South Korean Foreign Minister Yun
Byung-Se in Seoul for talks on standoff on the Korean peninsula.
Several Americans have been held in North Korea in recent years.
In 2011, a US delegation led by Robert King , the US special envoy
for human rights and humanitarian issues, secured the release of
Eddie Jun Yong -Su , a California -based businessman , who had
been detained for apparent missionary
activities .
In 2010, former US president Jimmy Carter won plaudits when he
negotiated the release of American national Aijalon Mahli Gomes ,
sentenced to eight years of hard labour for illegally crossing into
the North from China.
On another mercy mission a year earlier in 2009, former president
Bill Clinton won the release of US television journalists Laura Ling
and Euna Lee, jailed after wandering across the North Korean
border with China.
Relations between the two Koreas show little sign of improvement,
with Seoul announcing on Friday a complete withdrawal from a
jointly run industrial park in the North .

Sunday 21 April 2013

Service of today, as reported by OBI FRANK

REFLECTION FOR THE 4TH SUNDAY OF
EASTER (GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY).
THEME: THE POWER TO LEAD VS THE WILL
TO FOLLOW
Today is known as Good Shepherd Sunday
and from the gospel reading today (John
10:27-30) our Lord Jesus Christ declared
among other things that: “My sheep hear my
voice, and I know them and they follow me
and I give them eternal life and they shall
never perish, and no one can snatch them
from my hand…I and the father are one”. We
have a lot to learn from these ponderable
words of our Lord. Firstly, by calling us
sheep we understand that he is the
Shepherd. Of course we understand this
from John (10:11) where our Lord said: “I am
the Good Shepherd”. Note well, he used the
definite article “the”. This simply shows that
there is only one ideal shepherd the others
are thieves that have come to kill and
destroy (John 10:10a).Our Lord Jesus Christ
is the Shepherd with a difference because he
is so protective of the sheep to the extent
that he lays down his life for his sheep
against any external aggression (John
10:15).Furthermore, this quality (the good
Shepherd) is what our Lord Jesus Christ
shares with God the father who is also
known as the Shepherd of His people Israel
(Psalm 23; Ezekiel 34:11-15).
To have a more profound understanding of
the image of our Lord Jesus Christ as the
Good Shepherd, it will be worthwhile to look
into the relationship between sheep and
Shepherd within the Jewish setting. A herd of
sheep is normally under the guidance of a
Shepherd. Now the Shepherd can either be
the owner of the sheep or a hired hand. The
hired hand is usually interested in the pay
but the owner who had invested so much on
the herd, goes the extra mile to tend the
sheep. He has the following characteristics:
1. Individual Knowledge of the Sheep: The
Shepherd knows the sheep individually and
even call them by personal names. He knows
when they are hungry and feed them, he
knows when each is sick and attends to it.
Simply put everything about the sheep it
comprehensively known to the Shepherd.
When we relate this to the claim of our Lord
Jesus Christ, we see that he is indeed the
GOOD SHEPHERD PER EXCELLENCE. He
knows us personally; Isaiah (49:16) says our
names are written on the palms of his hand.
He feeds us when we are hungry not only
with physical food (Matt.14:13-21), he also
feeds us with spiritual food; his body and
blood (John 6:54). He is further attentive to
us when we are sick physically and spiritually
(Matt.9:5-10).
2. Leading the Sheep to Right Spots: It is one
thing to lead others and another thing to
lead them to the rightful places. Most people
are lost today because they were led to the
wrong places by those they depended on. A
good Shepherd is one who knows the best
spots for the sheep and leads them there
(Psalm 23:1-2).This is one of the greatest
attributes of our Lord Jesus Christ who came
to lead us into eternal life (John 12:50).
3. Defending the Shenep: Without a
shepherd the herd of sheep is defenceless
and susceptible to destruction by enemies. It
is thus the work of the shepherd to see to it
that the sheep is protected. This is a
superlative work of God as we learnt from
David (Psalm 23:4) where he says: “Even
though I walk through the valley of the
shadow of death I fear no evil, for there you
are with me; your rod and your staff they
comfort me”.
In appropriating this role of the Good
Shepherd which he shares with God the
Father, our Lord Jesus Christ in the gospel
today maintained that no one can snatch the
sheep from him (John 10:28). This simply
means that he is apt as the Good Shepherd
in defending and protecting the sheep. One
peculiar thing about our Lord in this role is
the fact of laying down his life for the sheep;
dying so that the sheep could live (John
15:13).
4. Maintaining Unity Among the Sheep: A
discordant Shepherd cannot have a
coordinated and united herd. Real unity is
not a mechanical act of fixing and re-fixing.
It comes from genuine disposition of fellow
feeling. The Shepherd sees to it that he is
one with the herd and that the herd is also
united as a community. On this account our
Lord Jesus Christ prayed for unity and
oneness among the sheep as he is one with
the father (John 17:21). He further
anticipated the convergence of all under one
herd and one Shepherd (John 10:16).
Often we find ourselves in one way or the
other overseeing the affairs of a group as a
leader. Faced with such tasks we ask
ourselves if we work towards integration of
the community and its member under our
care and how effectively united is the
community under us?
From the point of view of the shepherd we
move to acknowledge the expectations from
the sheep or if you like those who are led.
Good followership makes leadership easier.
Often we are destructively critical about
those who are leading us while we fail to
make conscious effort to do our own part.
The will to follow should involve the
following:
Ability to listen. Good listening is a skill that
many of us don’t have. We’re too distracted,
judgmental, and preoccupied with our own
agendas. We have short attention spans, and
spend too much time thinking about what
we have to say, instead of listening to what’s
being said to us. This is true when we try to
listen to other people. And it’s true when we
try to listen to God. In today’s gospel,
however, Jesus tells us that we need to really
listen to him, if we are going to follow him
as our good shepherd. “My sheep hear my
voice,” he said. “I know them, and they
follow me.” Indeed, listening to Jesus is a
theme that runs throughout today’s liturgy.
We asked God in the opening prayer to
“Attune our minds to the sound of (Jesus’)
voice, (that we may) follow in faith the call of
the shepherd.” And we heard in the first
reading, from the Acts of the Apostles, how
the whole city of Antioch gathered
to hear the word of the Lord, and that those
who heard it and accepted it glorified God
and were filled with joy. We too can be filled
with joy, if we listen to the word of the Lord;
we too are called to hear and obey the voice
of Jesus our shepherd. However, listening to
Jesus’ voice requires both effort and
opportunity.
To denote the importance of his message
our Lord Jesus Christ would often say: “Let
him who has ears to listen let him
hear” (Mark 4:9; Matt. 13:9).
The Ability to Follow. It is one thing to listen
and another thing to put what is heard into
action. In one of his parables Jesus Christ
spoke about the seed that falls by the
roadside as representing those who hear the
word of God but it does not get to germinate
in them (Luke 8:5). God would always like us
to be attentive to him as he leads us and not
shifting grounds from his ordinances
(Joshua 1:7). When we deviate from the
Good Shepherd we enter into the wrong
hands.
Ability to Return after Going Astray: Being a
follower is not always an easy task;
sometimes we stray from the right path like
in the parable of the lost sheep (Luke
15:1-7). It is not all about falling away it has
also to do with coming back to the right path
after straying in the manner of David (2nd
Sam.12:1-3).
Ability to Maintain Unity with the Shepherd
and others: Every follower is a fraction of the
whole that makes up the community. There
is need for mutuality and unity with the
leader and fellow followers. This unity is
borne out of love and selflessness.
Coming back to some basic platforms we
can identify Shepherds at various segments
in the life of our community:
• Parents are Shepherds in their own way.
The choices they make can help or hinder
good development on the part of their
children. The children like little lambs are
watching and learning from their parents.
Parents should thus be watchful of their
actions.
• The government is the Shepherd of the
state in their own way much as their
authority comes from God (Romans 13:1-2).
Their policies and plans should in essence
be at the service of growth and development
of the state and the citizens.
• Religious leaders are Shepherds in a very
special way as they have proximate divine
mandate to direct the religious and spiritual
well-being of the people. To disengage in
this vocation of leading souls to God is
detraction from the right path.
We conclude by urging ourselves to be the
best we can be wherever and whenever we
are called upon to lead or to follow.
Furthermore we pray for vocations today
asking God to well it up in the minds of
younger people in our contemporary human
society to be desirous to serve God in
various religious capacities so that the work
of evangelization will continue and become
more effective in our contemporary human
society.
Have a grace-filled Sunday.

According to Mr Ozoukwa, “the governor sustained a minor injury
which is a minor cut on his head but he is presently in a good and
stable condition and has been attended to by medical personnel.”
The Governor can be seen in the picture with a bandage rolled all
over his head with some blood stains.
The statement advised the general public especially Imo citizens not
to “panic and should go about with their normal duties since the
Governor is in a good and stable condition and responding to
necessary treatment.”

BREAKING NEWS.......Buhari is the main sponsor of BOKO HARAM.- GEJ

The Presidency has described former Head of State and
presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change,
Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), as the major sponsor of the
dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram and a leading protagonist of
violence.
It said that apart from his ambition to rule the country again,
Buhari had refused to contribute meaningfully to actions capable
of ending insecurity in the country.
Buhari, a National Leader of the CPC, had, on the Hausa service of
the British Broadcasting Corporation on Monday, said that the
Federal Government should be blamed for the lingering security
challenges in the country. According to Punch Newspaper, Buhari
also flayed the Goodluck Jonathan administration for what he
called “poor handling of insurgency” that had led to the death of
many Nigerians and destruction of properties.
While reacting to this, the Senior Special Assistant to the President
on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, said it was unfortunate that
such a statement could emanate from Buhari.
Describing Buhari as a man he respects so much, Okupe added
that he had no option but to reply to his accusations against the
Federal Government and the President.
He reminded Nigerians that Buhari had previously been credited
with a statement that he would make the country ungovernable if
the last presidential election did not favour him.
Okupe said, “Everybody in this country knows that it was Buhari
who vowed that if he did not win the election, he would make the
country ungovernable for this President Goodluck Jonathan. It
was this same Buhari who said during the electioneering period
that if the votes were counted and he lost, people should go for
blood. He is not in any position to apportion blame on the issue
of violence in the North or in Nigeria in general. He is a
protagonist of violence.
The only solution he sees to his not being President is to call for
violence. This government has tried to contain some of the
repercussions of the unguarded statements made by Buhari and I
don’t think anybody in Nigeria will take him seriously on this
allegation.”
The presidential aide added that if there were those to be blamed
for the insecurity in the country, the name of Buhari should top
the list. Okupe wondered why the Katsina State- born general had
refused to visit states like Borno and Yobe despite the fact that he
hails from the northern part of the country.
He said, “As a former Head of State, have you ever seen him
(Buhari) visiting Borno or Yobe States? Have you ever seen him
show sympathy to people, either Christians or Muslims that have
been killed during these attacks by Boko Haram? Have you see
him as a leader, a man who traversed the entire length and
breadth of the North especially to canvass for votes seeking an
end to the violence? Why is it that he cannot use that same clout
that he has to get leaders together and say we must put an end to
this carnage? He finds it comfortable to shift the blame to other
people.
What has he done as a leader, who is from that region to help
Nigeria and the North out of this unfortunate development?
Nigerians should ask him, as a former Head of State and
stakeholder in the Nigeria project and a man who wants to be
President again, if he would want Nigeria to be destroyed up to a
point before he can try to wade in? It does not work that way.”
Okupe said that as a leader, Buhari should stop apportioning
blame, but should do something crucial to bring the carnage in
the country under control.
He reminded the former military ruler that during the crisis in
Niger Delta, leaders from the region went into the creeks and
discussed with the militants to lay down their arms. “Has Buhari
done that? When Christians were killed, he kept quiet, when
mosques were bombed, he did not say anything.
He doesn’t have any other interest in Nigeria but his inordinate
ambition to rule,” he added. In his reaction, Buhari said there was
no way he could be involved in the discussion on how to end the
carnage since he was not part of the problem. Buhari, who spoke
through the National Publicity Secretary of the CPC, Mr. Rotimi
Fashakin, also said it was apparent that those responsible for the
crisis in the Niger Delta were the ones that volunteered to end it.
He said, “When the Niger Delta militancy reached a crescendo,
some notable people from that region went into the creeks as he
(Okupe) alleged. The question is: ‘Who were the people who
started the Niger Delta imbroglio ab initio?’ If the people that
initiated and executed a problem decided to resolve it, what can
anyone do about it?
This is totally different from the Boko Haram palaver.”

EFCC kicks against Nnamani’s bid to travel abroad for treatment

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has
kicked against the application filed by the former Governor of
Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, seeking to travel to the
United States for a medical treatment.
Nnamani, who is being tried before a Federal High Court
sitting in Lagos for allegedly defrauding his state to the tune of
N4.5 billion, filed the application through his counsel, Ricky
Tarfa, stating that there is urgent need for him to be allowed
to travel out on health ground.
The ex-governor’s application was supported by an affidavit
deposed to by Ayo Ambali, who stated that sometime in 2008,
Nnamani was diagnosed of having “hypercloclesterolemnia and
a high level serum Prostrate Surface Antigem (SPA),” adding
that he had gone to the United States of America several times
for medical treatments.
According to Ambali, after carrying out series of examinations
and tests on Nnamani, his personal physician advised that he
come to the United States for compulsory intermittent medical
checkups and treatments.
However, the EFCC, in its counter-affidavit, dismissed the
application as an attempt to further delay the matter, stressing
that the ailment for which Nnamani seeks to travel abroad
could be treated in Nigeria.
In a counter-affidavit deposed to by Ahamefula Ken Mbaeri,
the anti-graft agency stated that Nnamani was also standing
trial before an Enugu State High Court, and that granting the
application would jeopardise the case, which is to come up on
April 29, 2013.
EFCC vehemently opposed the application, urging the court to
dismiss the application.

Ways To Stop Quarrels In A Relationship.

There are a lot of ways to stop fighting in a relationship, but do
you always want to follow them? Constant fighting in a
relationship isn't healthy, but sometimes it happens. If you're
finding yourself constantly fighting with your boyfriend or
girlfriend, you've got to take a look at my ways to stop fighting
in a relationship so you can really get back to enjoying each
other! Remember, fights are typically caused by
misunderstandings and underlying issues!
1. Don't Bring up The past:This is a huge step that I need to
learn. I would say, one of the key ways to stop fighting in a
relationship is to stop bringing up the past. The past is the past
and the more that you bring it up, the worse the fight can
actually be. Bringing up the past can also bring up a lot of old
emotions, which is never good.
2. Don't Leave Things Unresolved:I know it's hard and you've
probably heard it before, but going to bed angry is not going
to solve anything. This can leave you both feeling extremely
resentful and actually can make the fight last a lot longer. Why
not resolve the fight before bed or at least talk it all out, so
that you both can feel better?
3. Learn to Accept Each Other:Everyone in the world has flaws,
some of the flaws are things that you've got to deal with, some
of the flaws are things that you need to accept. This is where
accepting each other for who you are comes in handy. Your
boyfriend might never be the guy that brings home flowers and
your girlfriend may never be the girl that can't stop nagging,
but these are things that you need to learn to accept.
4. Figure Out The Root of The Problem:Every fight in the world
has a root at the end of it. Once you figure out exactly what the
root of the problem is, you'll be able to solve the problem and
also solve the fight. It's not going to be easy, but it is going to
be worth it.
5. Own up to Your Part of The Fight:One of the biggest
problems that I have when I'm in a fight is that I get into my
own head space – and I don't necessarily own up to my own
part of the fight. It's hard to admit that you are wrong and to
take the blame. Do it though. It's healthy and it'll make your
partner appreciate you!
6. Ban The 'but':'But if you did this,' 'but if you did that,'
eliminate the 'but' from your vocab when you are in a fight and
you'll be way better off! I use the 'but' all of the time and
truthfully, when I cut it out, the fight doesn't last nearly as
long. Just curb your tongue a little!
7. Is This a Repeat Performance?I know that issues come up,
but do you constantly have the same fight? Over and over
again? Do you think that could be a sign? If you are constantly
having a fight that revolves around a certain thing that your
spouse does, why not bring it up to them calmly to stop the
fight?
8. Remember What's Important:Finally, you always want to keep
in mind that your relationship is very important and that you
two are together for a reason. It's hard to keep that in mind
when you are fighting, but it's so important.
While you might not feel like your relationship is amazing
because of the constant fighting, there are tons of ways to stop
fighting in your relationship, you just have to work at it. So, are
you constantly fighting in your relationship?

Lynxxx, Omawumi, Tiwa Savage, Flavor, MI, Naeto C to be confirmed as new Glo ambassadors

I'm sure these celebrities will be wondering how I know this.
Hehe. It was done very codedly through out last week...but like I
always say, I have peeps everywhere...lol.
So here's the scoop. Lynxxx, Omawumi, Tiwa Savage, Flavour,
MI, Bez, Naeto C, Chidynma (The Voice), and Lagbaja will
soon be announced as the new ambassadors for telecoms giant,
Globacom. The music stars or their reps met with the
management of Glo at the conference room of Eko Hotel from
Monday to Friday last week.
According to the inside gist I gathered, Glo is planning to cut
down on the number of old Nollywood stars who are currently
their ambassadors (I know some of the ones that will be
dropped but let me not announce it here because they are yet
to informed), and replace them with young, vibrant music stars. I
hear the next phase will be comedians.
The new ambassadors have been interviewed, they have also
negotiated the cost of engagement for a period of two years
(They each will be getting between N10m/N20m annually). They
have also agreed to terms and conditions for the engagement.
The stars are waiting for the official announcement after which
they will all pick up their cheques. Good for them! Oh and
remember; you read it here first!

Married Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi's wedding to mistress disrupted by wife

This sounds like something out of a movie, but it's real life. Let
me tell you guys the story. Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi
married Lilian Akiyesi seven years ago, after the two dated for six
years. (Pictured above on their wedding day). So they've been
together for thirteen years. After trying for years to conceive,
Lilian finally got pregnant last year...but unknown to her, her
husband was having an affair with a Lagos based lady. (Lilian
and Solomon are based in Port Harcourt).
Solomon's Lagos based girlfriend got pregnant and the two
started planning a wedding that was supposed to take place
today April 13th. Fortunately for Lilian, she got wind of the
wedding plans just days ago. And according to what her friend
told me, Solomon sent money to Lilian just yesterday Friday April
12th and promised to return home next week. He told Lilian that
he was in Lagos to shoot a movie.
When Lilian confirmed the wedding was really going to happen
today, she contacted the police, took some family members and
friends and stormed the wedding venue - Overcomers World
Outreach located at Overcomers Close, off Ramlat Timson str, in
Aguda, Surulere. Fortunately someone from her entourage
deemed it fit to invite me to the party...lol
Lilian, who is eight months pregnant, stormed the church and
managed to stop the wedding before the pastor could
pronounce her husband and his mistress 'husband and wife'.
The police were later called to return sanity to the place
I sent someone to the church to take photos...will upload in a
bit. Oh, and the mistress is also pregnant. Men!!!

Gunmen, One Soldier Killed in Kano

The building in which some terror suspects were killed Friday
morning by the JTF in Kano
By Ibrahim Shuaibu
Operatives of the joint military task force (JTF) in Kano killed six
suspected gunmen on the wee hours of Friday during an
operation at their residence in Sheka quarters of Kano.
During the operation, a soldier was also shot dead by the
insurgents in a shootout, while five women and three children’s
who are family members of the suspects were rescued by the
security operatives.
It was also learnt that the troops stormed the hideout at about
5am of Friday to arrest suspects.
The security operatives further revealed that the operation was
successful because of the professionalism of their operatives.
The Spokesman of the JTF in Kano, Captain Ikedichi Iweha said
the operative’s foiled attempt by the armed men to rob Kantin
Kwari International textile market and go back to Yobe and
attack police station.
He said the building that harboured the sect where the gun
battle ensued has been demolished and some dangerous
weapons recovered.
Captain Iweha revealed that the operation was carried out about
4.30am following some arrest made by the JTF in Mariri quarters
which led to the discovery of the hideout of the sect.
He revealed that 2 AK-47, 39 rounds of ammunitions and four
magazines were recovered from the suspect’s residence.
It could be recalled that recently, six suspected militants were
shot dead in two separate operations at Yankaba and Ungwar-
Dabai all within the municipal local councils of the state.
THISDAY recalls that on Easter day in Kano, a soldier and
fourteen other gunmen were killed in a gun duel where the JTF
recovered 14 AK47 and explosives before they, demolished the
building.

I miss everything about my daughter – Cynthia’s father--Gen Osokogu

Almost one year after Miss Cynthia Osokogu, was killed by
friends she met on a social network, Facebook, her family
still remembers everything about the care and love they once
cherished. Her father, Gen. Frank Osokogu, (retd.) as a soldier
is not one given to emotions, but he could not but speak
fondly of his only beloved daughter who was snatched away
from him in the most brutal manner. When our
correspondent called at the home of the Osokogus
penultimate Monday, in Jos, Plateau State, Cynthia’s parents
were not at home our correspondent was at a loss how to
speak to Osokogu on phone and what his reaction would be,
knowing that it could amount to reopening old wounds. He
picked the phone on the first dial and having known who the
caller was, said, “Oh yeah, I remember you. You spoke to me
when the incident happened.” One would have thought that
he would cut the conversation at that stage, but when asked
how he felt the prosecution against the suspect was going.
He was frank as his name suggests. “Well I am not a lawyer,
but I feel that the case is going on fine even though there was
a little hiccup at the beginning. Initially it was being
prosecuted at the Magistrates’ Court and there was a little
delay, especially in putting up the papers, gathering all the
evidence, but when case was taken to the high court, there
was a change. “However, when the case was first mentioned
at the high court, the judges had a conference shortly after.
And there was a slight delay. All I will say is that it is at the
disposition of the court. That is not my responsibility. We
have done the best we can. “The other ones are judicial
process which you cannot force. Most judges adjourn for
sometimes more than one month. Don’t forget that murder
cases sometimes take a long time to resolve. Even civil matters
sometimes take up to three four years to resolve. When you
talk of representation, I think the case is being taken at the
highest level. Now it’s being handled by the Attorney General
of Lagos state. “My family has two lawyers and the police also
have their own lawyers. I am sure that now that it has gone to
the appropriate court, the trial is going to be faster. I don’t
know, I am not a lawyer, I will ask my lawyers again. May be
when they see your publication, they may equally react to it.”
However getting the retired general to talk about his daughter
was not easy. When asked what he missed most about his
daughter, especially given the circumstances under which he
died, he said, “Well these are sentimental questions and I
don’t usually discuss sentiments. But definitely she was my
daughter, and so I miss everything, everything about my
daughter, especially the circumstances the whole thing
happened. But we have had problems, especially in winding
up the business she was running before she died. But that is
okay and that’s all I want to say for now.”
If the retired general was a bit keen to talk about his late
daughter, his wife was clearly reticent. When our reporter
called her up for an interview, she blurted, “Please if it is
about Cynthia, I don’t want to say anything. I have said
enough and I don’t want to say anything about her please.
Thank you.”
Cynthia was murdered on July 22, 2012 by friends who
allegedly lured her to Lagos from Nasarawa State where she
was undergoing a Masters degree programme and killed her
at Cosmilla Hotel, Lakeview Estate, FESTAC Town, Lagos
Hotel.
Four men, Okwumo Nwabufo, 33; Olisaeloka Ezike, 23, Orji
Osita, 33; and Nonso Ezike, are standing trial over the
incident. Nwabufo and Ezike are facing charges of conspiracy
to commit murder and murder of Cynthia.
Osita, who is the pharmacist, is charged with selling Rohypnol
Flunitrazepan tablets to drug the deceased while Nonso, who
is Olisaeloka’s brother, is charged with being in possession
Cynthia’s Blackberry Bold 5 cell-phone.

20 women raped, police van burnt as hoodlums invade Agbarha-Otor

THERE is apprehension in Agbarha-Otor kingdom in Ughelli
North Local Government Area of Delta State following a reign
of terror unleashed on the people by hoodlums in the last
few days.
The Area Commander, Ughelli, Assistant Commissioner of
Police, ACP, Awosola Awotinde confirmed to Saturday
Vanguard that 34 persons were in police net in connection
with the orgy of violence.
THUGS
It was gathered that no fewer than 20 women and girls,
including an eight-year-old daughter of the Vicar of an
Anglican church in the community were raped by the
hooligans, who also set ablaze a police patrol vehicle.
A number of police officers were, at the outset, sent to the
palace of the monarch of Agbarha-Otor, His Royal Majesty
Richard Oghenevwogaga, Ebelle-Okorefe I, to secure the
king’s abode following a breakdown of law and order in the
community, Wednesday night, but rampaging hoodlums
overpowered them.
At press time, last night, the monarch has relocated from the
palace for safety reason, while the Area Commander, Ughelli,
has reinforced security in the town. Saturday Vanguard also
sighted soldiers in the troubled community.
The hooligans, numbering about 100 were angry that the
monarch refused to participate in the traditional “Ekene”
festival on grounds that he is a Christian.
According to our source, “they wanted the king to make
sacrifice to the deity, but he refused, saying he is a Christian
and they should go ahead without him contributing money or
cooking for them during the feast, as some of the priests and
chiefs demanded.
“His refusal to take part in the feast infuriated the hooligans,
who vowed to foment trouble and they executed their
mission on Wednesday, the last day of the feast. The
unfortunate thing is that some chiefs even supported their
rebellion,” he added.
Saturday Vanguard learnt that hoodlums allegedly expelled
from the community because of their criminal escapades,
started with the clergyman because it was in his church that
the king held a thanksgiving service recently.
Besides raping the clergyman’s eight-year-old daughter,
hospitalized because of the incident and other girls, they also
hijacked the property of people, claiming that the deity
wanted them.
A community leader said, the miscreants engaged in raping of
women (married and single) since the festival, which is held
once every 15 years started on 27th of March. It took a
worrisome dimension Wednesday night as they invaded the
Church’s vicarage, destroyed and looted properties worth
thousands of naira after making the vicar and his households
undergo some inhuman treatments.”
According to our source, “on their way from the vicarage,
they invaded the shop of the Queen Mother of Agbarha-Otor
and raided her shop; they stole wines and practically every
other thing in the shop and also vandalized the freezer.”

Baby boy abandoned in refuse dump, burnt to death

Unknown heartless mother on Friday dumped a baby in a
refuse cart along Rukuba Road in Jos, Plateau State capital.
The said baby was reportedly consumed by fire after the
mother had left the scene.
DailyPost gathered that the unidentified lady alighted from a
tricycle popularly called Keke NAPEP and dropped a carton
in the refuse bin, but unknown to those around, the carton
contained a baby.
However, it is yet clear whether the mother was the one who
ignited the fire or it came from ashes poured into the bin by
other people, but the fire was seen several minutes after
she had dropped the carton and left, according to
residents of the area.
DailyPost learnt frome a source that some passers-by who
heard the deafening cry of the baby rushed to the dump site
only to discover that the baby had been badly burnt.
The baby, however died before
help could get to him.
A resident who confirmed sighting the lady when she
dropped the carton said she must have come from another town in Jos just to conceal her identity while carrying out the criminal act. He lamented that the lady chose to dump the baby in a refuse cart instead of where he can be picked up for proper care.

STEPHEN KESHI LOSES SALARY AFTER RECEIVING CARS FROM GLO

Few days after he received the cars that were promised him by
Mike Adenuga of Globacom, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi
will be loosing a significant amount of his salary due to a new
structure being promoted by the leadership of the Nigeria
Football Federation, NFF.
After a meeting of the Technical Committee of the NFF in Abuja, it
was decided that all match bonuses as well as the salaries of the
coaches, including Keshi should be cut down.
When Punch asked the General Secretary of the NFF, Mr. Musa
Amadu, why they are reducing the pay of people who recently
brought bride to Nigeria, he simply said it's due to the reality on
ground.
“If you take just a simple look at the period around June and the
cost implication for the country, for instance, you will understand
that the measures being taken have become very necessary. We
cannot continue like this; there has to be sensible auditing,” he
said.
The committee also deliberated on the war of words between
Keshi and his players and promised to address the issues before
the team embarks on matches for the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Reps Reject 6-yr Tenure For President, Govs; Dump State Creation

ABUJA—Indication emerged Thursday that the House of
Representatives has dumped the clamour for the creation of
new states in the country.
The House has also distanced itself from the request for a
six-year single tenure for the President and governors,
sticking to the provision of the 1999 Constitution of two
terms of four years each.
These formed the highlights of the report of the Constitution
Review Committee, headed by the Deputy Speaker of the
House of Representatives counterpart, Emeka Ihedioha,
which is due for presentation next week.
Vanguard learnt from competent sources that the
committee, however, recommended full autonomy for the
774 LGAs and the 36 Houses of Assembly in the country.
It was gathered that the committee decided to jettison the
creation of new states following the pressure mounted by
some Northern governors and political leaders that they did
not want new states at the moment.
Pressure from Northern governors
One of the northern governors recently described the move
by the National Assembly for new states as a waste of time
and resources and asked the members to discontinue with
the exercise.
The outspoken governor had also accused the lawmakers of
trying to weaken the north with new states, a development
that drew criticisms from the House, which described his
utterances as unbecoming of his position.
It was learnt that although almost all the states
endorsed state creation during the nationwide collation
of opinions, the issue was later ‘shut down’ to calm
frayed nerves.
A lawmaker, who is familiar with the development, said,
“The issue of state creation generated a lot of controversy
and we have decided to dump the matter in the interest of
peace.
“We don’t want a situation where the good work done by
the committee to be rubbished as a result of controversial
items. We have therefore endorsed autonomy for the local
governments and the various state houses of assembly,
something we believe, will bring about stability and
progress in the states.
It was not, however, clear if state governors, who were not
comfortable with any form of autonomy for the local
governments and their Houses of Assembly, would allow the
matter to scale through when it is reverted for voting in
their respected states.
For any of the items approved by the constitution review
committee to become law, 24 out of the 36 Houses of
Assemblies must concur.
Already, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, is opposed to
local government autonomy, on the grounds that the third
tier of government is part and parcel of the respective
states, with whom they maintain joint accounts.

Former deputy governor of Anambra state killed by kidnappers

First Deputy Governor of Anambra State and National Vice
President of ACN (South East), Dr. Chudi Nwike, who was
kidnapped on March 19, has been killed by his kidnappers.
Dr Nwike's corpse was found on Monday April 8th in the middle
of the road leading to Alizomor community near Agbor in Ika
South Local Government Area of Delta State, after the family had
paid the kidnappers N5m ransom.
The late ACN chieftain served as deputy governor between 1991
and 1993, under former governor, Dr. Chukwu-emeka Ezeife. See

With a heart full of pain and sorrow, Action Congress of Nigeria,
Anambra State Chapter, in consultation with the NwikeFamily of
Azu Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area ofAnambra State
announces the death murder of Dr ChuddyNwike, Ibolo
Ogbunike, First Deputy Governor of Anambra State and National
Vice President of the Action Congress of Nigeria (South East).
Dr Nwike’s body has been identified by Our State Chairman,
Chief Amaechi Obidike, our State Secretary, Barr Emeka Ibeand
his brother Dr Bufo Nwike at Agbor Police Station in Delta State.
Dr Nwike, who became Deputy Governor of Anambra State
under Gov Chukwuemeka Ezeife in 1991, was abducted by
gunmen on March 19, 2013 by suspected kidnappers.
According to the family, the suspected kidnappers made contact
with his brother Dr Bufo Nwike shortly after with a ransom
demand of N30 million equivalent, delivered in US Dollars. The
younger Dr Nwike, negotiated the sum to N5 million which
delivered to a location in Delta State through a courier on Friday
April 05, 2013, after rejecting the offer for the wife or the
brother to deliver the money.
But rather than release the ex-Deputy Governor, the kidnappers
seized the money and the courier on April 05, 2013, cutting off
all communication, until the body was found.
All efforts and all contacts made by our party to relevant
authorities had not yielded any dividend and have surprisingly
not even drawn any concern from quarters we took for granted.
We worked and prayed to see Dr Nwike return safe and alive to
continue contributing as he has been doing to our party, but we
have not. We toiled and moiled to see our South East National
Vice Chairman, play his traditional fatherly role in the tasks
immediately before us. But we are crest-fallen that Dr Nwike as
gone the way of all mortals, though in a way we would have
wished away.
We are tremendously ashamed of the circumstances of his death
and wish we could now erase from history that a former Deputy
Governor of a State in Nigeria died in this manner.
Our Leader Dr Chris Nwabueze Ngige mourns, our committed
party faithfuls weep and our overwhelming supporters wail,
butDr Nwike,Ibolo Ogbunike ,distinguished medical Doctor,
calculative politician and quintessential statesman is no more.
Since the security agencies did not succeed in tracking
downAnambra’s Deputy Governor in life, we urge them to rise
and smash all obstacles on the way to unearthing the abductors
and killers of ACN’s rare gem, an embodiment of peace and
knowledge.
We urge them to leave no stone unturned and not be beaten by
any decoy until the nation has the right answers to the nagging
questions. For we may know who will it be next.

LIGHTNING STRIKES SS3 PUPIL DEAD ON WAEC EXAM DAY [YESTERDAY]

The family of a Senior Secondary School 3
female pupil of Muslim College
Oworonsoki, Lagos, has been thrown into
mourning after lightning struck and killed
19-year-old Celestina Farotide, who was
about to start her final examination the
same morning.
The victim’s father was said to be in shock
and disbelief and had refused to show up
to collect the corpse, saying, “It cannot be
my daughter”.
The aunt of the deceased, Christiana
Idowu, who described her as gentle, quiet
and respectful said she saw her corpse in
the hospital after the family received an
emergency call from one of Celestina’s
friends.
An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity
because she was not permitted to talk to
journalists, said the incident occurred on
Monday.
She said, “We had finished with the
morning assembly, but some students
were still coming in. Celestina had
prepared her desk in readiness for the
West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate
Examination’s practical they were to have
that morning.”
PUNCH Metro learnt that she later went to
buy the food she would eat and when she
was returning to her class in company with
other students, tragedy struck.
The eyewitness said, “The lightning came in
their direction and immediately three of
the school girls fell down.
“Two of them rose up and ran and
Celestina rose up too. Then the lighteningt
struck the second time, and she (Celestine)
fell finally on the floor and did not rise
again.
‘She was immediately taken to the
teachers’ staff room, where a teacher was
asked to take her to the Gbagada General
Hospital. It was there she was confirmed
dead.”
The principal of the school was said to be
away on a week-long conference in
Makurdi when the incident happened but
authorities of the school contacted
Celestina’s grandmother at New Garage
area of Lagos.
The Lagos State Commissioner for
Education with her entourage were said to
have visited the school on Tuesday
morning.
A resident of the area, Mr. Kabiawu
Babajide, who also claimed to be an
alumnus of the school told our
correspondent the lightning also wreaked
havoc in the area.
The monarch of Oworonsoki land, Oba
Bashir Oloruntodupefun, said the gods
were angry because Oworosoki land had
been desecrated by strangers and the
government was taking over ancestral
lands and selling them to non-indigenes.
He said, “It’s a pity the girl died. The
circumstances surrounding her death are
mysterious because the girl was never sick.
From what happened, we can all see the
gods are making demands.
“The shrines that should be used for
sacrifices have been swept away in water.
And the land we have is being sold by
government officials to their friends and
they send military men to threaten us.
“Government needs to give us our land
back. The real Oworo is submerged in
waters. We want them to help sand fill
those places taken over by water because
many cultural heritage has been lost. If
this is done, evil will no longer occur.”

NUC threatens to shut state varsities without councils

THE National Universities Commission (NUC) has threatened to
close down all state-owned universities without governing
councils.
Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Julius Okojie, handed
down the warning on Thursday at an interactive session with
management of Northwest University, Kano, on a courtesy visit
by the university in Abuja.
Okojie has, therefore, directed all vice chancellors of
universities in Nigeria whose governing councils are yet to be
constituted to liaise with their visitors as soon as possible.
He emphasised the need for strong governance structure in
university system, stressing that “any state university without a
governing council will be shut down.”
Professor Okojie also warned the Northwest University vice
chancellor against running programmes that are not accredited
by the commission.
He advised the management of the university to run only
programmes it has capacity to manage effectively while paying
close attention to the relevance of such programmes.
The NUC boss who also spoke on the alleged plan to scrap the
Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) conducted
by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), saying
instead of scrapping, JAMB would be repositioned for more
effective services.
He, therefore, warned against illegal admissions, stressing that
JAMB remained the only recognised body for admission of
candidates into universities in the country.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Professor Mohammed Razali
Bin Agus, said the university commenced academic activities
with initial enrolment of 1,100 students and with four faculties.

President Mahama becomes a son of the soil in Akwa Ibom

Ghanaian President, Dr.
John Dramani Mahama,
who bagged a prestigious
chieftaincy title of ‘UFAN
AKWA IBOM’ (Friend of
Akwa Ibom) from the
traditional fathers in the
state, has declared ”I am
a son of the soil”.
The traditional fathers led
by the Paramount Ruler
of Ikot Abasi, Edidem Udo Joe Ntukobom XII, who
conferred the title on the august visitor Sunday during a
state reception for the Ghanaian President at Government
House Banquet hall, Uyo during his one-day official visit to
the state.
Edidem Ntukobom said that the conferment of the title on
the Ghanaian President was to further strengthen the
bond of friendship between Ghana, Akwa Ibom and Nigeria
as a whole.
President Mahama expressed gratitude to the royal fathers
for the honour bestowed on him, saying that he was
impressed by the organization and warm reception
accorded to him.
Dr. Mahama recalled that he arrived the country on Friday
last week to hold a bilateral discussion with President
Goodluck Jonathan, but requested the for and obtained
the President’s permission to visit his friend in Akwa Ibom,
noting that Ghanaians would continue to be brothers with
Nigerians, with the friendship waxing stronger and
stronger.
He observed that Ghana and Nigeria have a lot in common
in terms of historical legacies and almost similar cultural
background, and lauded the state for the talents in the
array of cultural displays seen in the reception organized
for him, pledging to invite them to any major event in
Ghana.
The President declared that recently Ghana discovered
hydro-carbon products while Nigeria had discovered such
a long time ago, stressing ”We can see how hydro-carbon
products can transform lives. If the wealth of a state or
nation cannot transform the lives of people, then it does
not make sense. We can see how hydro-carbon is
transforming lives in Akwa Ibom State. I commend
Governor Akpabio’s leadership qualities for this. That is
what the leadership of the 21st century is doing in
transforming the lives of the people”.
According to him, ”Ghana and Nigeria would continue to
be brothers. We need to grow our economy. Aside the
ECOWAS protocols, there are still some hurdles mainly
roadblocks between the two countries. However, Iam
happy that there are Nigerian business men in Ghana
while Ghanaian business men are seen in Nigeria”.
Governor Akpabio said that Nigeria has built bridges of
friendship with Ghana, saying that the President’s
friendship to President Jonathan has interpreted the
economy of West Africa.
Akpabio, who harped on the need for Ghana to assist
Nigeria in developing its economy, democracy and
infrastruture, called on him to continue to work with
President Jonathan in ensuring that ECOWAS countries
receive global reckoning in all shperes, thanking the
Ghanaian President for the visit and the state stakeholders
for coming out to honour the visitor.

APGA National Chairman Denies Abusing Ojukwu

National chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance
(APGA), Dr. Maxi Okwu yesterday denied the allegation made
by a chieftain of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, that he called
late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, an
extremist.
He called on Igbo elders to caution Umeh “against his
penchant to blackmail anybody that differs with him.”
Okwu spoke in Enugu while reacting to a statement credited
to Umeh that he (Okwu) should apologise for insulting
Ojukwu.
Umeh had accused Okwu of describing late APGA Leader, Dim
Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, as an “extremist” during
the APGA convention in Awka, Anambra State, on Monday.
But Okwu wondered why Umeh should attribute outright
falsehood to people.
“I hereby call on his people to apologise for what was clearly
falsehood, as I never at any point called Ojukwu an extremist
or used an abusive word against him.”
“From the manner he talks and the way he behaves these
days, we need an assemblage of Igbo elders to talk sense into
him and restrict him from behaving like a puppy dog jeering
and tearing at anyone that disagrees with him,” Okwu said.
He further berated Umeh for not allowing Ojukwu’s spirit to
rest in peace by invoking him whenever he wants to gain
public sympathy, insisting that the dead, especially people of
Ojukwu’s calibre, deserved some respect.
The new APGA boss, however, stated that his cardinal point
was reconciliation, for which cause he led a team of APGA
chieftains to visit the founder of the party, Chief Chekwas
Okorie.
“And from the discussion at our visit to him, one could see
that Chekwas Okorie has the political interest of Igbo people
at heart, but everything about Umeh is selfishness,” Okwu
added.
