I kidnap People and Keep them in my church with my PASTOR.

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested 38-year-old
wanted kidnap suspect, Okafor, a graduate of Mathematics
from the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. Okafor popularly
known as Igwe did not only fall afoul of the law as a kidnapper,
he also messed up the temple of God by keeping his victims in
a church and sharing his loot with the pastor.
Once on a mission to collect N5 million ransom from the family of
victim in Asaba, Delta State, he was rounded up by crack
policemen and locked up in a cell.
Okafor, however, escaped through the window of the cell to
continue his evil trade until the hardworking members of the
State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Anambra ended his reign of
terror.
The kidnap kingpin spoke with Sunday Sun: “I graduated from
Unizik in 2006 and I studied Mathematics. I did my NYSC in Abuja
and I served in NNPC at Berger. After graduation I was going to
Ghana to buy clothes to sell in Lagos State.
“I am now involved totally in kidnapping where I make quick
money. When I kidnapped I used to take my victims to my church
in Awkuzu where the General Overseer, Pastor Nwaezeagu always
collects the victims from us and at the end, we would give him his
own share. We decided to join the church so that the members
would not suspect us that we were keeping some victims we
kidnapped inside the church.”
“I was the one who was involved in the kidnapping of the
traditional prime minister in Enugu-Ukwu and we collected N50
million from the victim before we released him and I gave Pastor
Nwaezeagu his 20 per cent share on that day.
“I kidnapped another woman in Awka and collected N30 million
from the family of victim and kept her in the church and, after
the family paid the ransom, I released the suspect and I gave
Pastor Nwaezeagu the sum of N200,000.”
Okafor who hails from Anambra West Local Government Area
continued: “Myself and my gang kidnapped one victim, Chief John
Uchachuwu at Asaba and we demanded the sum of N5 million.
The family of the victim called me to come and take the money at
Asaba. When I got to Asaba I collected the N5 million but the
policemen from the anti-kidnap arrested me and they took me to
Delta State and put me inside their cell.”
He said that he escaped through the toilet of the cell and quickly
moved to Anambra State to continue his kidnapping job.
“I was arrested in Onitsha market by the men of SARS and I have
confessed to them about my involvement in kidnapping,” he said.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ballah Nasarawa told
Sunday Sun that the suspect had been declared wanted by
Anambra State Police Command before he was eventually arrested
on September 2, 2013 in Onitsha.
The police commissioner said Okafor was the same suspect that
the Delta State Police Command declared wanted after he escaping
from the cell through the toilet in 2013.
He stated that the suspect had kept several victims he kidnapped in
the church in which he was a member and which he used as a
hideout.
CP Nasarawa added that, besides the kidnap instances that Okafor
gave, the suspect was also behind the abduction of the Chairman
of Association of Electronics Dealers in Nnewi and collected N30
million that he shared among his gang members and released the
victim from the church in which he was kept.
Also commenting about Okafor, Delta State Commissioner of
Police, Ikechukwu Aduba told Sunday Sun that the notorious
kidnapper had with his gang kidnapped one Chief John
Uchachuwu in Asaba and they demanded N5 million as ransom
and the police played along as they negotiated ransom payment.
He was told to come and collect the money in Asaba. It was in the
process of collecting the ransom that he was arrested.
“Also we had to rescue the victim, Chief Uchachuwu while the
suspect, Okafor came to Asaba to collect the ransom of N5million.
What shocked me was that the notorious kidnapper, Okafor
escaped from the cell in our custody despite the fact that he has
injury on his legs. The policemen involved were one ASP, one
Inspector and one Corporal. I had to detain them in my custody.
“I have written to my AIG in charge of Zone 5, Benin who
appreciated that action had been taken. They will definitely face
the music. How can a notorious kidnapper escape from their
custody?” he queried.
CP Aduba added that later the information got to him that the
SARS in Anambra had re-arrested the kidnapper and I sent my
officers to Anambra State Police Command and they saw him.
“There was a time we traced Okafor to Niger Republic and Ghana
and he escaped. We couldn’t take over the case from Anambra
State Police Command because he did a lot more of kidnapping in
Anambra State than Delta State and he has more questions to
answer in Anambra State Police Command and they should
continue their investigation,” he stated.
The Anambra police boss assured that the suspect would soon be
charged to court after investigation had been concluded.
CULLED FROM THE SUN NIGERIA

Mother kills 4 days old baby with RAT POISON.

four-day-old baby boy has been
gruesomely murdered by his own mother
who fed him with a N40 rat poison. Binta
Shuaibu, 20, conspired with her friend,
Hindatu Umar, 27, to commit the dastardly
act in Dan Amarya village, Danja Local
Government Area of Katsina State.
The mother and her co-conspirator are now
answering to the wicked act in police
custody.
What could make a mother willfully kill
her own baby? The suspect, Binta tells her
story to Sunday Sun: “I was born in Layin-
Ruwa, Kafur Local Government Area
Katsina State. I got married 11years ago and
my husband, Inusa later forced me to
divorce him. I have only one son, Aminu
for him.
“After the divorce, I decided to go into
prostitution. The money I got from
prostitution is what I use to feed my father
in the village. My father had divorced my
mother because my mother begged him to
allow me to return to my former husband,
but my father rejected the advice. My father
divorced my mother because of that.
“While engaged in prostitution, I suddenly
had an unwanted pregnancy, which I did
not terminate. I was able to conceal the
pregnancy and successfully had the baby
boy delivered in my room.
“The ward head, Maiunguwa in the village
where I was doing prostitution had warned
all prostitutes not to have unwanted
pregnancy, and that anyone who got
pregnant must relocate to any nearby
village to deliver and care for the baby
there.
“But because of the warning by village
head, I was at a loss to what to do with the
baby and my calling as a prostitute.
“My good friend, Hindatu Umar suggested
that since we do not want to stop
prostitution, we should kill the baby. We
both went into the street and bought rat
poison for N40 and used it to kill the baby.”
Asked how the baby was actually killed,
Binta said, “It was about midnight that the
act was carried out. I told my friend,
Hindatu that I would not want to witness
the killing of my own child.
“Hindatu was the one who fed my baby
with the poison. She forced him to drink
the poison. When she wanted to do it, I
went into the other room and took a drug,
Valium 5 and slept off. I woke up to see that
my baby was dead. We wrapped the dead
body with clothes.”
News of the heinous crime soon filtered out
and the partners in crime were
apprehended.
Binta spoke further, “Unknown to us, the
ward head had heard about the news that
my baby was killed. He quickly went to
Danja Police Station, reported the incident
and we were arrested by the police.”
In her own confession, Hindatu Umar said,
“I am a prostitute. My friend, Binta
delivered a baby boy and we have a law by
the ward head in the village of Danja that
he doesn’t want any unwanted pregnancy
and that any of us prostitutes who gets
pregnant should leave the village and
deliver the baby in the next village.
“We still enjoy our job as prostitutes and so,
we both decided to kill the baby. I suggested
to her to kill the baby. We went into the
street and bought local rat killer and by
midnight I gave the baby the poison and he
drank the poison and died instantly. I took
the container and dropped it in the toilet.
Later the news spread and policemen from
Danja Police Station arrested us.”
Katsina State Commissioner of Police, Mr.
Mohammed Hurdi told Sunday Sun that “it
was when the news spread the following
morning that the ward head reported the
incident to Danja Police Station and this led
to the arrest of the two suspects, Binta
Shuaibu and Hindatu Umar who are
currently at the State CID under
investigation.”
CP Hurdi added that the baby had been
buried, while the mother of the baby, Binta
and her partner, both of whom conspired to
commit the murder, would face the wrath
of the law.
The commissioner said after investigation
had been concluded, the suspects would be
charged to court.

Seven,Including Pregnant Woman Feared dead In Calabar Collapsed Building

At least seven people have been feared
dead including a pregnant woman following
a building collapse in Calabar as a result of
the heavy down pour at Edem Otop, in
Calabar Municipality in Cross River state,
which lasted for several hours.
Residents of the area and eye witness accounts
stated that, the disaster which occurred on
Wednesday night, was as a result of erosion
running through into a ravine behind the
building. They also said that lack of drainage
system to channel erosion in the community
contributed to the problem.
Nine persons, including a six-month old baby,
were in the building when the incident
occurred.
Six bodies were recovered dead and the other
three, including the baby, were rescued alive
with several degrees of injuries. The survivors
are receiving treatment at the General
Hospital, Calabar.
The head of the family, Amos Akaniyene who
was outside at the time of the disaster was not
available to comment on the issue.

Kenyan Lawmakers Vote to Leave International Court

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya’s Parliament
took the first step toward withdrawing the
country from the International Criminal
Court on Thursday, less than a week
before Kenya’s deputy president goes on
trial in The Hague.
The National Assembly passed a motion
urging Kenya to become the first of the
122 nations adhering to the court to leave
it. The vote was just the latest example of
the growing discontent here toward the
court, which is putting Kenya’s new
president, Uhuru Kenyatta, on trial as
well.
If the Kenyan government formally
withdraws, the cases against Mr. Kenyatta
and Deputy President William Ruto, who
have been charged with crimes against
humanity stemming from violence after
the 2007 presidential election, would
continue. But experts question whether
such a move might embolden the indicted
leaders — who are not in custody and have
agreed to participate thus far, avoiding the
need for arrest warrants — to begin
defying the court.
“While the legal consequence is nil at the
court, the practical consequence is
whether or not Kenyatta or Ruto continue
to respect the court’s authority despite the
withdrawal vote and still appear at trial,”
said David Scheffer, the director of the
Center for International Human Rights at
the Northwestern University law school.
With the world’s attention riveted on the
violence in Syria, the controversy in
Kenya threatens to undermine the
perceived standing of the court at a time
when some leaders, including members of
the Arab League, are calling for the
international prosecution of atrocities like
the chemical weapons attack in Damascus
that killed hundreds of civilians last
month.
Paola Gaeta, a director of the Geneva
Academy of International Humanitarian
Law and Human Rights, said that Kenya’s
withdrawal would be “another blow to the
court’s authority,” one that could lead
other nations to follow suit.
The country’s withdrawal poses the risk of
“a domino effect in the region,” Ms. Gaeta
said. Like every international criminal
court, she said, the court is a paper tiger
“whose teeth can be only those of the
states cooperating with it.”
More than 30 African nations adhere to
the court, but many have been critical of
it because all eight cases on the court’s
docket are from Africa.
Supporters of Mr. Kenyatta and Mr. Ruto
have rejected the cases against them as
politically motivated. Their arguments
have grown increasingly strident,
describing the court as a neocolonialist
institution infringing on Kenya’s
sovereignty.
“The sovereign state of Kenya, with a
functioning judiciary, with a vibrant
democracy, one of the best democracies in
Africa, is under threat,” said Aden Duale,
the majority leader in the National
Assembly, as he introduced the motion on
Thursday.
Mr. Ruto and Mr. Kenyatta were
opponents in the 2007 election but joined
forces for this year’s vote. The turnout for
them may have been bolstered by the
criminal case, a reaction to what was
widely viewed as meddling by outsiders in
Kenyan affairs. Now their coalition, called
the Jubilee Alliance, holds a solid majority
in Parliament.
Jakoyo Midiwo, a member of the
opposition in Parliament, said that
legislators would regret withdrawing from
the court “10 years down the line when
we get a rogue leader who will kill our
people.” The debate grew raucous with
repeated interruptions before most
members of the opposition walked out. The
motion later passed on a voice vote.
The prospect of a democratically elected
head of state standing trial in Europe has
reawakened memories of colonialism and
Western dominance here.
“I think it’s a pushing from external
forces,” said Tatenda Wangui, 20, a first-
year law student who supported the move
to pull out from the court. “Britain and
the rest, this is my opinion, still have
some power and want to maintain that
power that they had previously.” She
added: “We are a sovereign nation. We
have the capacity.”
Jeff Kirira, 18, also a first-year law
student, agreed: “The case is not frivolous.
It’s a legitimate case. It wasn’t brought out
of the blue. But it can be handled here as
well as it would abroad.”
Kenya did little on its own to pursue
senior figures suspected in the postelection
violence, and in the I.C.C. case, witnesses
have dropped out amid claims that they
had been intimidated by the leaders’
supporters.
But public support for the prosecutions
has dropped significantly since the case
was first opened. Surveys of 2,000 adults
by the pollsters Ipsos Synovate Kenya,
each with a margin of sampling error of
plus or minus two percentage points,
showed support for the International
Criminal Court case dropping by 20
percentage points in recent years. In
October 2011, 59 percent of Kenyans
surveyed supported trials at The Hague; by
June 2013, that number had dropped to 39
percent.
Some people say that they want to forget
or at least to move on. Others fear that a
conviction, particularly of Mr. Kenyatta,
could destabilize the country and lead to
more violence. “At the social level, I can
say that I am myself intimidated, not least
by my own friends, who think that what I
am doing is not noble,” said Wilfred
Nderitu, who represents victims before the
court. “That may not be coming from the
government, but it is the reality.”
Some supporters of the president and
deputy president have likened the
presidential election that they won in
March to a referendum on the case.
Dozens of members of Parliament who
plan to travel to The Hague with Mr. Ruto
as a symbol of their solidarity lined up
outside the Dutch embassy on Wednesday
to get visas. Mr. Kenyatta’s case is
scheduled to begin in November.
In May the African Union passed a
resolution accusing the court of targeting
Africans. The court’s prosecutor, Fatou
Bensouda, who is from the West African
nation of Gambia, repeatedly points out
that two of the cases, from Libya and
Sudan, were referred to her office by the
United Nations Security Council.
In most of the other cases — including
Mali, Central African Republic, Uganda
and the Democratic Republic of Congo —
the governments themselves asked the
court to open investigations. In Kenya, the
court’s prosecutor, Ms. Bensouda’s
predecessor, stepped in on his own accord.
There are preliminary inquiries in areas
outside of Africa, including Colombia and
Afghanistan.
“Every time the I.C.C. process inches
forward to deliver a justice denied
Kenyans by their own government, the
country’s political establishment scrambles
furiously to block the way,” said Elizabeth
Evenson, a senior counsel at Human
Rights Watch.
The 1998 Treaty of Rome created the I.C.C.,
and its jurisdiction went into effect in
2002. The United States never ratified the
treaty, a fact that was noted time and
again in the debate in the Kenyan
Parliament on Thursday.
Mr. Duale quoted the former American
ambassador to the United Nations, John
Negroponte, as saying, “No nation should
underestimate our commitment to protect
our citizens.”

ASUU Strike: Students Threaten Clamp down on Private Universities

Believing that the prolonged strike by the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),
which has paralysed studies in public
universities in the country is being sustained
because the children of influential people in
the country are ensconced in the private
universities, some members of the National
Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) are
already contemplating attack on the private
universities as a way of compelling the federal
government to take a more urgent action in
resolving the stalemate between ASUU and the
government.
The students, operating under the umbrella of
the NANS also staged a peaceful protest in
Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, to register
their displeasure over federal government's
alleged insincerity.
Speaking at the gathering Thursday, Mr.
Steven Adara, a student leader in Ekiti State
University (EKSU), noted that those in
government and some prominent Nigerians
were not helping the matter, as they were in
the habit of sending their sons and daughters
to private schools and overseas.
"We will mobilise ourselves and ensure that
we disrupt academic activities in most of the
private schools, because it is the sons and
daughters of the affluent that are in these
schools," he said.
Armed with placards with various inscriptions,
the students flayed the federal government
for its failure to honour the agreement it had
with ASUU since 2009, saying agreements
were expected to be honoured in good faith.
The students expressed their displeasure to
what they described as a continuous recession
in the standard of education since Dr .
Goodluck Jonathan emerged as the president
of the country.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Mr.
Asefon Sunday, the Director of Action and
Mobilisation, NANS, South -west pointed out
that between 2000 and 2011 that the Nigerian
government earned about N48.48 trillion
from the sale of oil alone against N3.10
trillion earned between 1979 and 1999.
He added that the Federal Inland Revenue
Service (FIRS) in 2012 financial year alone
realised the sum of N5.12 trillion as revenue
generated from tax paid by the masses.
"With this tremendous upswing in the revenue
at the disposal of the federal government, one
would have expected such to translate to
commensurate improvement in the quality of
Nigeria's public education as well as other
social services.
He further condemned the inability of the
federal government to budget a reasonable
amount of money to education sector as
recommended by UNESCO which is 26 percent
of the country's total budget.
Asefon noted that some countries with smaller
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) like Ghana,
Cote d'Ivoire, Kenya, Morocco and Botswana
had their budgetary allocations to education
sector.
According to him, the allocation to education
has been oscillating between 31 per cent, 20
per cent, 23 per cent, 17.7 per cent and 19
per cent, 8.5 per cent in recent years. .
The students equally urged the state
universities like Ekiti State University (EKSU),
Lagos State University (LASU), Osun State
University,Olabisi Onabanjo University to
slash their school fees immediately.
Meanwhile, the ASUU has accused the federal
government of resorting to acts of
intimidation and blackmail in its efforts to
frustrate and break the ranks of the country's
universities' academic staff, whose indefinite
strike was over eight weeks old.
This is even as ASUU vowed to deal with
blacklegs that could emerge among its
members who the government might recruit
in its alleged desperate effort to divide the
union and intimidate it into abandoning the
ongoing nation-wide industrial action.
In a joint statement presented by its zonal
coordinator, of the Benin Zone of ASUU, Dr.
Sunny O. Ighalo, said: "The strike has indeed
moved into a critical phase where government
is now applying the instrument of intimidation
and blackmail and other gimmicks to
undermine the struggle.
"The purported disbursement of the N130
billion to universities arising from the
meeting of Pro-Chancellors and Vice-
Chancellors was aimed at breaking our ranks
and is not acceptable to our union."
It noted that Nigeria was rich enough to
afford what the union asked for based on the
universities’ 'Needs Assessment Report', which
actually put the financial resources required
to overhaul the nation's university system at
N1.5 trillion.
"We believe Nigeria has the resources needed
to revitalise our universities and save the
nation the disgrace of having to send our
children to less endowed countries for
university education."
"While N500 billion minimum is expected,
going by the Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) of January 2012 for the revitalisation
of universities, government claimed that it
distributed N100 billion (20 per cent) to the
universities," it further said.
The body noted that it would not compromise
on the indefinite strike, saying "the federal
government should demonstrate integrity"
and honour to the letter the agreement it
entered into without duress. "What makes a
person or an organisation - including
governments - honourable is honouring an
agreement freely made".
The union leaders swore to continue the strike
and advised the federal government to
consider returning to the negotiation table
with ASUU on how to fulfill the extant
agreement signed between it and the union.

ASUU STRIKE. Finally FG Bows by releasing 100 billion.

Following the Federal Government’s face-
off with the Academic Staff Union of
Universities (ASUU), Federal Government,
has released N100 billion to be shared by
59 universities in the country.
Also, another N30 billion has been released
by the Federal Government for 36 federal
institutions in the country as contained in
the letter written to institutions by the
committee appointed by the Federal
Government, headed by the Secretary to the
Government of the Federation (SGF),
Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, to mediate on
the face-off with ASUU.
Addressing members of the union at the
Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka,
on Thursday, the Vice Chancellor of the
institution, Professor Boniface Egboka, said
that out of the N100 billion released for
infrastructural development, UNIZIK got
N3.050 billion.
He further said that out of the N30 billion
also released by the Federal Government to
take care of earned allowances which had
been the bone of contention in the Federal
Government and ASUU face-off, UNIZIK, got
N1.184 billion.
The Vice Chancellor, recalled that Nnamdi
Azikiwe University since its establishment
in 1991, had not received the mandatory
take-off grant of N500 million, adding that
the university had only been working with
its internally generated revenue (IGR)
which had helped it in the 60 per cent
development of the institution.
He further appreciated the tenacity of ASUU
and other unions, adding that the strike was
what made it possible for the assistance and
praised the efforts of President Goodluck
Jonathan’s administration for making sure
that the face-off between the FG and ASUU,
was amicable resolved.
Professor Egboka, however, called on the
staff, students and union leaders in the
institution to close rank so that such
goodies from the Federal Government would
not elude them.

Female Graduate Leads 7-Man Robbery Gang

A seven-man robbery gang led by a
woman, Chioma Ezekwesiri, has been
smashed by the Special Anti-Robbery
Squad, SARS, in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
The robbery suspects were arrested while
attempting to rob Bolatito Hotel, Kola Bus
Stop, Ijaiye, Lagos.
In chat with P.M.NEWS, Chioma said she
arranged for the guns with Raymond
Chukwuka, a.k.a. Stubborn, they were to
use for the operation, which she claimed
was a land matter, whereas the police said
that their mission was allegedly to rob a
male customer of the hotel, who sells
fertilizer, of about N8 million.
Other suspected members of the gang are:
Amadi Igwe, 41, Raymond Chukwuka, 24,
Ignatius Okeredi, 27, Michael Madu, 52, and
Okechukwu Jerome, 28, and a yet-to-be
identified member who is at large.
The alleged robbery operation, according to
the police, was foiled by some staff of the
hotel, who promptly made a distress call to
SARS operatives.
The law enforcement agents were said to
have surrounded the hotel, and later
searched all its occupants. It was in the
process that two locally made guns and 12
live ammunition were recovered from the
robbery suspects.
“We received a distress call from a staff of
Bolatito Hotel, who said they suspected
some people around the hotel. The Special
Anti-Robbery Squad moved in, surrounded
the place and demanded to search
everybody. It was in the process that two
guns and 12 live ammunition were
recovered in Chioma’s car. This led to the
arrest of all her gang members,” a top
police source told P.M.NEWS.
Following their arrest and conclusion of
investigation, the police took them to court.
Chioma, 35, who claimed to be a Law
graduate from the University of Lagos, was
remanded in prison custody along with six
other members of her gang by Magistrate
A.O. Komolafe of the Magistrates’ Court,
Ikeja.
They are facing a three count charge of
robbery, conspiracy and unlawful
possession of firearms.
Chioma claimed that she graduated from
UNILAG in 1999, was called to the bar in
2000, and owns a Non-Governmental
Organisation, Youth of All Nations
Empowerment Association. But authorities
of the University of Lagos said she did
graduate from that institution.
An officer of the school, who craved
anonymity, said Chioma cannot claim to be
an alumnus of the university if she cannot
provide her matriculation number.
“The fact that she claimed to have gone to
Law School with the first batch is not
substantial enough. UNILAG usually sends
graduating students at a stretch, not in
batches. My position on the issue is that she
did not graduate from UNILAG, and so she
was not our student,” the officer said.
Chioma’s claim of being called to the Bar
was also debunked by Barrister Tunji Busari
of Cognate Solicitors, who explained that
“we have a directory for all lawyers. We
have all their names with the year they
were called to bar, with their NBA
registration numbers. When I checked
through her name in the directory, I could
not find her name in my record book.”
When our reporter called Mr. J.E. Joshua,
the chairman of Youth of All Nations
Empowerment Association, he denied that
Chioma is the founder of the association.
“She just participated in a charity work
which the association embarked on in
April, and promised to participate fully in
other projects of the NGO. But we decided to
stop working with her when we realised
that she wasn’t a straight forward person.
She is not working with us,” Joshua stated. Culled from Osun Defenders.

17-year-old Warri Orphan Wins ₦120m Shell University Scholarship.

At nine years, Master Lucky Ayolu, from
Ekeni in Southern Ijaw Local Government of
Bayelsa State, lost his dad and mother.
suddenly, life became cruel to him as he
learnt to fend for himself. He notified our
correspondent that he took to fishing to
pay for his charges in primary and
secondary schools, as his grandmother, who
he resided with, did not have sufficient.
However, as somebody who is destined to
succeed in life, Ayolu, now 17 years, has
become a beneficiary of Shell Petroleum
Development Company’s overseas
scholarship.
The scholarship design, whose annual
allowance is about N120m, and organised by
Bassan West Cluster Development Board, saw
Ayolu as one of the 14 beneficiaries.
Ayolu, who talked to hit Metro, said his life
was a testimony that “absolute belief in God
and hard work are very significant in life.”
He said, “Life has been mean to me. But
today, I have every cause to glorify God for
raising me up after my fantasy.
“At a issue, I lost wish completely and begun
nursing the concept of taking my life. It was
so bad that when I heard about this
scholarship, I could not raise transport fare
to the venue of the examination.”
Lucky Ayolu told Naija news.com.ng that one
of his kin assisted him financially to get the
scholarship pattern and furthermore
provided him transport fare from Ekene to
Yenagoa where the check took location.
“At the end of the check, I was successful. I
am going to read Computer research at
Wisconsin University, Ghana. The control
and respect has been my lifelong ambition
and I am appreciative that God has used my
community and case to make the illusion a
reality.”
He advised other youths in difficult position
not to give up, saying that with hard work
and believe in God, they would achieve their
yearns.
He furthermore urged the authorities at all
grades to look into the plight of the orphans
in the homeland

Jonathan will break record in 2015 – Femi Fani-Kayode

Chief Femi Fa-Kayode has predicted that
president Goodluck Jonathan will break a
new record by being the first Nigeria
democratically elected president to be sent
packing out of Aso-Rock by vote in 2015.
This he made known via his facebook page
yesterday.
Below is the excerpt from the embattled
former aviation minister’s facebook page
Where are all the Jonathan hardliners now?
The newspaper columnists, cheerleaders,
court jesters, so-called elder-statesmen,
ethnic militants, Federal Ministers and
Presidential aides that threatened us, called
us names and claimed that nothing could
stop Jonathan? Why is he doing everything
in his power to woo everyone back to his
faction of the PDP? I thought that they said
that they could do it all alone and that they
didn’t need anyone, not even OBJ. Why are
they begging him to clean up their mess?
I guess that now they know that there is a
lot more to the power game than they
thought. Politics is a science and an art and
it is not for the brutish and unlearned. In
the next few weeks and months the
Jonathonians will be taught the lesson of
their lives and they will come to appreciate
the fact that the first thing you have to
learn about the power game is the value
and importance of sobriety, restraint,
humility and magnanimity. I have little
doubt that Mr. Jonathan will be the first
Nigerian President to be voted out of office
after serving just one term.

Shekau Not Killed By JTF; The Controversies Continue

A new report has emerged that alleges
the Cameroonian security officers, the
gendarmes, were responsible for Shekau’s
death, and not the Joint Task Force (JTF)
as earlier claimed.
On August 19, 2013, first statements
appeared claiming that Shekau might be
dead due to gunshot wounds received from
JTF. The task force allegedly did this
without the permission of the Defence
Headquarters (DHQ) in order to keep the
army from taking credit for its efforts.
The DHQ, in their turn, refused to confirm
or deny the statement and controversy
continues to trail the JTF; the Presidency
itself has passed the ball back to the
military, claiming that only the military
has the final say on it.
Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, the JTF spokesman, had
claimed in his e-mail statement that Shekau
had died from the mortal wounds sustained
in one of the recent clashes with the
military and hurriedly rushed to a
Cameroonian village where he eventually
died.
However, a highly placed security chief,
whose name cannot be disclosed in print,
has faulted the claim made by Lt. Col. Sagir
Musa. According to this source, although
Shekau is dead it was not the JTF that was
responsible for his death; instead it might
be the Cameroonian gendarmes who were
policing their border that killed him.
“Let me begin by telling you that there is a
strong indication that Abubakar Shekau is
dead but he was not killed by the JTF. If he
was shot by our boys, they would not let
him escape. This is why I know the JTF was
misbehaving with that funny statement
claiming responsibility. Where were they
after shooting Shekau and they allowed a
man who had suffered such a mortal
wound escape? That is not possible. But
with fresh revelations coming up, there is a
possibility that Shekau was shot and killed
by the Cameroonian gendarmes who were
keeping watch over their border,” the
security official said.
He explained that Nigerian security
operatives were making contacts with their
Cameroonian counterparts with a view to
establishing the circumstance that had led
to the death of Shekau and the whereabouts
of his corpse.

48hrs after PDP breakaway, Atiku’s 2015 billboards, posters appear.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has
dissociated himself from what he describes
as “the dramatic appearance of campaign
billboards and posters being mounted in and
around the Federal Capital Territory”.
He said such campaign billboards and
posters did not emanate from him and that
the whole thing smirks of mischief aimed at
dividing the ranks of the new Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP).
On Saturday, Atiku led seven governors and
some members of the National Assembly,
delegates and aspirants to stage a walkout
from the just concluded Special Convention
of the party.
They subsequently formed a splinter PDP
opposed to President Goodluck Jonathan, in
the most explicit internal threat yet to his
assumed bid to run for another term in
office come 2015.

PDP Certificate of Registration Missing, Obasanjo, Atiku, Lamido Fingered

There is confusion in the Presidency over
the whereabouts of the registration
certificate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Independent National Electoral
Commission issues certificates of
registration to all registered political
parties.
But the Presidency, in the battle to secure
its hold on the PDP, has sought, without
success, for the certificate of registration of
the party.
Sources in the Presidency told The Eagle
Online that attempts to trace the certificate
has been futile.
But sources said the Presidency has
narrowed the search for the certificate to
three political gladiators within the party.
They are former President Olusegun
Obasanjo, former Vice President Atiku
Abubakar and the Jigawa State Governor,
Alhaji Sule Lamido.
However, the source said it is very unlikely
that the certificate will be with Obasanjo as
he was still in Yola Prison in Adamawa
State when the party was registered.
It was gathered that the belief in the
Presidency was that the faction of the PDP
that broke away on Saturday owing to
complaints about the handling of its Special
National Convention, must be banking on
possessing the certificate to win the battle
for the ownership of the party.
A source said that the decision of President
Goodluck Jonathan to pacify the breakaway
faction was because of the belief that with
the certificate of registration in its
possession, winning a court battle would be
easy.
Abubakar and Lamido are part of the
breakaway faction under the chairmanship
of Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje.
Jonathan was said to have been humbled by
the fact that without the certificate of
registration in his kitty, he was fighting a
lost battle against the breakaway faction
that has headed to court to stop the
recognition of the leadership of the party
under Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Abubakar, Lamido and some other
governors had on Saturday formed the
parallel PDP following their outcry of
injustice during the Special National
Convention.
They said over 50 candidates not favorably
disposed to the leadership of Jonathan and
Tukur were disqualified at the convention.
Some of the other governors who are with
the new PDP include Babangida Aliyu of
Niger State, Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State,
Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, Murtala
Nyako of Adamawa State and Abdulfatah
Ahmed of Kwara State.
The Presidency is said to have come to the
conclusion that the certificate is with either
Abubakar or Lamido.
However, majority of the members of the
think-tank in the Presidency believe the
certificate must be with Abubakar.
This was because he paid for the
registration of the party and its national
headquarters, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.
He was reported to have spent about N98
million for the certificate and the
acquisition of the national headquarters.
A source in the Presidency said: “The
President and his team know that they are
fighting a lost battle if they do not have the
certificate of registration with them.
“It is very obvious that the ambition of the
President to seek re-election in 2015 is dead
once the party is handed over to the other
faction by the court.
“The next thing the president can do is to
abandon his ambition and return to his
village.
“Or how do you rationalize the President
joining another party to realize his
ambition.”
One of the sources said that Jonathan is also
scared by the possibility of the breakaway
faction of the PDP teaming up with other
parties to form an alliance against the PDP
for the 2015 election, even if the court
declares the Tukur-led leadership as the
authentic PDP.
The fear is that the breakaway PDP could
team up with the Peoples Democratic
Movement, in which Abubakar is believed to
have a lot of influence.
And the alliance could also be extended to
the All Progressives Congress.
A source said: “It is scary thinking of what
an alliance of the breakaway PDP with the
PDM and the APC would produce.
“It is very unlikely that the PDP would be
able to muster enough support to defeat
such an alliance.
“That is why it is almost certain that the
President would find an amicable resolution
of the crisis, even if it involves his having
to step down his own reelection ambition
and look like a hero in all of the crisis.”
As at press time on Tuesday, Jonathan was
still meeting with a caucus loyal to him in
the PDP to consider the various options
available to him.
Though he has not declared his interest in
seeking re-election, the body languages of
both Jonathan and his lieutenants point to
the fact that he is interested in retaining his
seat in 2015.

Nokia soars as Microsoft deal eases earnings woe

Shares in Finnish telecoms firm Nokia ( NOK1V.HE ) rocket
up more than 40 percent to 4.15 euros, currently their
biggest ever one-day rise in volume 8 times its 90-day
average after striking a 5.44 billion euros deal with
Microsoft for its heavily cash-burning devices & services
division.
Nokia announced that it is selling the division for 3.8 billion euros and
a 10-year license to its wireless patent portfolio for 1.65 billion euros,
or the combined equivalent of 1.4 euros per share in cash, according
to Deutsche Bank.
"Given the material expected benefits to Nokia's earnings, net cash and
upside in the share price from current levels, we upgrade from 'sell' to
'hold'," writes Deutsche Bank in a note, estimating Nokia could trade
up to 4.40 euros per share.
"We do not believe that the deal will face meaningful regulatory
scrutiny as Microsoft does not have a handset business or market
share currently," Deutsche Bank adds.

Anambra CPC pulls out of APC, joins PDM

The recently registered All Progressives Congress (APC), has
suffered a major setback in Anambra State following the pullout
of members of the former members of the Congress for Progressive
Change (CPC).
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Nwafor Okafor, said
CPC members had to pull out of APC because the party lacked
internal democracy.
“All the members of the former CPC that was one of the parties
that merged to form APC have pulled out of the marriage.”
“He recalls that the parties in the merger were ACN, CPC and
ANPP,” Okafor, said the former CPC members have now joined yet
a newly formed political party, the Peoples Democratic Movement
(PDM).
They said the last problem was the alleged imposition of Senator
Chris Ngige on them as the governorship candidate of APC in the
November 16 election without primary election by the APC
leadership.

AMAECHI: I belong to Abubakar Kawu Baraje-led PDP

Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’
Forum (NGF), Honourable Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has said that
he belonged to the faction of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) led by Abubakar Kawu Baraje.
Amaechi stated this during an interview with journalists in Port-
Harcourt after arriving from Abuja, on Monday.
Answering a question on the pulling out of some PDP governors
and stakeholders, at the recent PDP mini-convention in Abuja and
subsequent press briefing by the Atiku Abubakar-led PDP faction,
Governor Amaechi said: “I am not the national chairman, the
national chairman is Abubakar Kawu Baraje and he is the only
person who is qualified to speak for now or the publicity
secretary. All you know is that I belong to the PDP-led by
Abubakar Kawu Baraje and we are forging ahead because we need
to make some changes”.
On PDP’s electoral fortunes in 2015, he said: “Well, when we get
to 2015, God will determine that. We can’t be discussing 2015
now. We will discuss 2015 when we get to 2015”.
Asked to comment on the decision of Rivers statutory delegates to
boycott Saturday’s mini-PDP-Convention, Amaechi said: “You
know, the chairman of the party and the members of the National
Assembly and House of Assembly, took that decision, I wasn’t
around, so, I wouldn’t know what to say about that but the most
important thing is that we are on course”.
Amaechi also said he would not know the outcome of the meeting
President Goodluck Jonathan had with some governors in Abuja since he was not at the meeting.

Drama In Presidential Villa As Kwankwaso Rejects Jonathan’s Request

There was a mild political drama at Nigeria’s Presidential Villa on
Sunday night when Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano
State rejected the request of President Goodluck Jonathan to stand
beside him as Tony Anenih, the chairman of the Board of Trustees
of the People’s Democratic Party, read a communiqué at the end of
their “peace” meeting.
Mr. Kwankwaso was the spokesman of a group of PDP governors
who last Saturday walked out of the venue of the party’s mini-
convention.
He was at Aso Rock Villa to participate in a meeting called by Mr.
Jonathan to iron out differences between the president’s faction of
the party and a splinter group of governors and other party
members who staged the dramatic walkout.
At the end of the peace meeting, which was attended by 16
governors, Mr. Anenih was mandated to speak with reporters as
Mr. Jonathan and his deputy, Namadi Sambo, were reduced to
spectators. A presidential source told SaharaReporters that
President Jonathan had beckoned on Kwankwaso to stand beside
him, but the Kano State governor refused. “When Mr. President
beckoned to Alhaji Kwankwaso to stand by his side as Chief
Anenih read out the communiqué, the governor raised his finger
and shook it several times. He then headed to the side of Chief
Anenih,” said the source. He added that Mr. Jonathan, though
clearly miffed, flashed a pained smile.
SaharaReporters learnt that Mr. Jonathan first met behind closed
doors with former President Olusegun Obasanjo for close to two
hours in the private residence of the president, and then met with
16 PDP governors, including four of the group that walked away
from the mini-convention. The splinter group, led by former Vice
President Abubakar Atiku, subsequently met at the Musa Yar’Adua
Convention Center in Abuja and announced the formation of the
“New PDP.” The rebellious governors include Babangida Aliyu of
Niger State, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, Murtala Nyako of
Adamawa, and Abdulfatai Ahmed of Kwara State.
Mr. Anenih read the communiqué flanked by President Jonathan
on the right and Governor Kwankwaso on the left, with other
governors behind them. The chairman of the fractious party’s
board of trustees stated that “the leadership of the party and the
PDP governors met today to discuss the incident that occurred
during the PDP special convention on the 31st of August 2013,
whereby some state delegations walked out of the convention
ground to announce a faction of the party.” He added: “The
meeting was smooth and encouraging and the discussions will
continue on Tuesday with all the aggrieved governors in attendance.”

Atiku replies Jonathan; I am ‘protecting the PDP’

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday replied the
presidency on his involvement in the formation of a splinter
Peoples Democratic Party.
President Goodluck Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Political
Matters, Ahmed Gulak, had said on Monday that Mr. Abubakar
should be grateful for being allowed to return to the party.
“I was surprised because Atiku is supposed to know more than
another person that there is no party like PDP. He left PDP and
went to ACN and he came back to PDP, because he discovered that
outside PDP there is no party, so he had to come back and he was
even given the waiver to contest the primaries election in 2011,”
Mr. Gulak said.
“Atiku should be grateful to PDP. Atiku is indebted to PDP and the
best way to continue to pay the debt is to protect PDP,” he added.
In his response, sent by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Mr.
Abubakar said he does not dispute the fact that he is indebted to
the PDP; but that the best way to continue to pay that debt is to
protect PDP.
“That is exactly what I am doing: Protecting the PDP,” the former
vice president said.
Mr. Abubakar led seven serving PDP governors and other party
leaders to stage a walkout of the party’s national convention on
Saturday.
The group later announced the formation of a separate faction of
the party to be led by a former PDP Acting Chairman, Abubakar
Baraje.
A former PDP National Secretary and former Osun State Governor,
Olagunsoye Oyinlola, is the National Secretary of the new faction.
The faction on Monday filed a case before a Lagos High Court
asking the court to order the exit of the PDP National Chairman,
Bamanga Tukur, and other members of the party’s National
Working Committee.

Breaking News -President Goodluck Jonathan's Resignation Letter Leaks. Bans his wife from attending Public Functions and tenders apology to Gov. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.

Fellow Countrymen; it’s with deep sense of patriotism that I make
this speech tonight. You will recall that when I was made the
acting president and subsequently president due to the untimely
death of president Shehu Yaradua GCFR, I had to do my best to
keep the nation as one, knowing that the polity was still heated at
that moment, as failure to do so would have seen the army
probably striking, hence my inability to perform to your
expectation. All I did during the two years period of serving out
President Yaradua’s tenure was to see to the rule of law which he
began till he passed away. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
When the coast was clear for election to take place, I went into
the race, campaigning to all of you in your various states,
soliciting for your votes. Many of you formed various groups on
my behalf to woo the electorates. May I at this junction correct
this belief that I initiated the “I had no shoes” mantra; on the
contrary, I was shocked myself to see the campaign jingle all over
the media. As a matter of fact, I was not consulted before it was
done, but I realize that it was all campaign strategy aimed at
appealing to your conscience. I made various promises in each of
the states I visited, which was a total of ninety one (91). Dear
compatriots, I have I not forgotten the promise made in any of
these States.
I do not seek to be a hero among you; neither do I seek the title of
statesmanship, when I don’t deserve it. It was out of my love for
football that I disbanded our national team, not out of wickedness.
I’m not unaware that you turned your back on me during the
infamous January 1st 2012 fuel subsidy which was engineered by
the Federal Executive Council, an action which necessarily I
would not have even considered, considering that I came from the
same background as you. But who was I to say no to a Harvard
graduate like Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, who you all agreed is an
economic guru, when she gave cogent economic reasons on why
the fuel subsidy should be removed, even though I admit that I
never understood what it meant. Tonight, I want to apologize for
that action which I took that caused the protests where lives were
lost. I apologize to the family of Enenche Akogwu, the Channels TV
reporter who died on the line of duty reporting the anger of
Nigerians against the decision I took.
I feel your pain and I do believe you also feel mine. It is my
sincere drive to better your standard of living that is why I
approved the fuel subsidy decision, especially on a day when you
all should be rejoicing and making resolutions for the New Year.
Please forgive my being insensitive. The hallmarks of leader is
admitting when they are wrong, apologizing for it and showing
true signs of repentance. Yes, cabals have taken over my
administrations as I have admitted over time; cabals whom I
thought I could fight to a standstill, but I was wrong. How could I
fight cabals like Femi Otedola, Aliko Dangote, Jimoh Ibrahim,
Dantata, Chris Uba and a host of others too numerous to mention,
when they all bankrolled my election? I agree that in this area I
failed Nigerians; I failed you, knowing that it was your votes that
brought me into power. I was not blabbing when I vowed to fight
the fabrics of corruption that have eaten deep into the system, but
may I tell you this compatriots; the fight against corruption can be
fought only with a clean hand, which admittedly I don’t have. I’m
sorry if I disappointed you.
Your complaints against Alison Madueke, urging me to fire her as
Minister of petroleum is justified, and even though I truly wish to
bow to your wishes, especially when glaring evidences were
provided, but I truly do not have the courage to fire a kinsman,
who have been a financial pillar to me and ‘bedmate’, as some of
you allege, but I can sincerely say to you that they were all
figments of imaginations of the media. I need not talk about Elder
Orubebe; his corrupt files are on my table, but again, the same
hand that held me back from firing Alison had also held me back
from sacking him, but do not mistake me for gay, as I am not one.
In this I know that I broke the oath of office by practicing
nepotism. Once again, I apologize to all Nigerians. I promise that
the 13 billion dollars I set aside with her towards 2015 campaigns
will now be reverted toward national building and security.
Fellow citizens of our great country Nigeria, you must have
observed that we are gradually winning the war against
terrorism, as orchestrated by Boko Haram. Though it was not easy
taking the decision to declare state of emergency in Borno, Yobe
and Adamawa States, but send a message that we are not a nation
govern by terrorists, who vowed to hold us to ransom, I had to
take it. The issue of Boko Haram will be a thing of the past before
the end of 2013; this I can assure you. I urge you to ignore any
propaganda of the group or any other insurgent groups. We will
win. Yes, we will overcome.
If there is any individual that I owe loads of apologies to, the
person is Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, who I admit
has not done anything to me personally to incur my wrath. Let
me at this very moment state that my fight against him has been
due to what my political followers in the field fed me with, as
well as his misunderstanding with my wife. I have been told that
he intends to slug the PDP presidential ticket with me, an action
which my political friends consider an affront to me. I know I
ought to have personally asked him if it was true, but due to ill
advise, I overlooked it. Rotimi Amaechi, my younger brother,
accept my apology. The media has not been helpful as they have
blown a little squabble into a feud. To my friends in the media,
please help us in mending fences not deepening it, especially the
social media which has become the main source of news to
Nigerians.
Tonight, and again, I say, tonight, I am stating it loud and clear
that my wife is hereby banned from attending any government
functions in my capacity, commission any government properties
or parade herself as an elected official of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria. I am aware of the entire crisis that she has caused in
various states that she has visited, especially her role in the
catastrophe between Governor Amaechi and the presidency. While
I hold my dear wife in I high esteem, I also hold the sanctity of
this nation in high regards. Consequently, the Minister of State,
Education is hereby relieved of his duties for personal reasons,
while the Rivers State commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu is to go on
compulsory. The minister of Health is also relieved following
allegations of his incompetence as former Chief Medical Director
of Ebonyi State leave Teaching Hospital (EBSUTH) and his inability
to quickly put an end to the Medical and Health workers strike
that engulfed the country. These pronouncements take place with
immediate effect.
The education travails in this country affects me just the way it
affects you. My Alma Mata, University of Portharcourt is among
the schools on strike and it hurts me to see it so. You wonder why
I singled out UNIPORT? When I was there, I never went on strike
neither do the polytechnics shut down, but today under my
watchful nose, ASUP and ASUU has gone on strike the same
period. I want to put an end to it once and for all, but our
coordinating Minister of the economy and Minister of Finance is
saying that we do not have the amount needed by ASUU, but I can
assure you that we will resolve it as soon as possible.
As for the long lingering crisis in the health sector, I hereby make
a pronouncement to all medical workers that the role of the chief
medical director is now a position for all health workers. This is
to create the much desired harmony in the health sector as we
have in other climes; however the holders of MBBS will co-
ordinate medical affairs during most clinical activities in the
hospitals. The board of all the hospitals will be reconstituted to
allow even representation of all medical practitioners. The
National health bill shall be signed into law by me the moment all
the grey areas are looked into and consented to by the various
medical professional unions.
Compatriots, this is the solemn moment; a moment of decision. I
appreciate your followership for the past four years, as
individuals and a people, however I have come to the conclusion
that I do no longer wish to be your president, hence I am
resigning as the President and grand commander in chief of the
Federal republic of Nigeria. The letter to this effect will be
communicated to the Senate President.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
